brenna and alastair

Here are some pictures of Brenna and Alastair from our trip to Catherine's for Thanksgiving:

Sadly, there is a smudge on the lense right over Alastair's right eye in the upper picture.

Here are two black and white ones:

$20 away

I'm only $20 away from getting the new ipod nano. I am pretty exited about it, and can't wait. I have done my research- read reviews, ect. The one I want to get is either the blue or red one on the left. And the nice thing is that I earned it all by myself. It's a good feeling. Yep. More to come!

pictures at the church

Nothing much has happened this week, so I just wanted to post these pictures at the church.

And of course one of Alice! And of course she's reading Harry Potter!
As I said before, nothing much has happened this week, except right now I have a cough and slight fever. Oh well. I hope it goes away soon!

trip to hartman

Last Friday was the 8th grade's trip to hartman, and we got to sign up for what stuff we wanted to do there. My first one that I picked was photography. Why wouldn't I? I got some pretty cool shots, I think...
I also did beach sculpting, and making beaded bookmarks and cool notebook covers. After I got home, 2 hours later it was time to go to NIJO- Northern Iowa Junior Orchestra. That went from 5-7 pm, and then I went straight to the UNIdome to watch the Tiger game with my friends. The Tigers played West and won. I can't remember the finishing scores, but I do remember they won by a landslide. And that was my Friday.

Quick and easy recipe that the kids will love, and all you need is one apple!

Yep, you heard me, folks. Would you like to know the secrets of this recipe no one else has ever dared discover? One that is quick and easy to make- and all you need to know is how to cut up an apple and use the microwave? Yes, it is that simple. So divine.
Never have time to bake an apple pie? Well, this recipe takes less than 5 minutes to make. It will give you the taste of fresh apple pie, still hot from the oven. Have I stirred your interest? Or are you ready to click on another button, go to another site, ready to cast aside what possibly may be your child's only hope of happiness, your only comfort food? Just read a little farther.

Test your patience. Indulge on my own genius and witty words that have brought you to this very end. The end of my wittiness, and the start of a genius recipe.
Congrats! You obviously have what it takes to keep your cool! Now go out into this world, and know that no matter what- you can be patient. (But wait for the recipe)

You will need:

1 apple
cinnamon
a microve, open fire, or any other means of heat

To make:

  • cut up one apple and place on a plate, all slices facing from each other.
  • put in microwave on high heat for 45 seconds.
  • remove from microwave and dip slices into cinnamon that has bee previously placed in a bowl.
  • serve immediatly

Bon Appetit!!!

so far

Last night Catherine and everybody got here, and I've just been taking picture after picture! Here are some of them so far. Dad of course got Alastair to smile right away!

Brenna playing the piano.

Brenna also liked the purple silk, and wore it as a dress, but, she was looking into our flourecent(?) light (we were playing doctor, and that was the light) and she all of a sudden frowned, but I loved her blue eyes in this picture.
And of course, one of Lily!
I don't post much of Lily, but this one was so comical!

perfect match.

In my opinion, hibiscus and leopard print were made for each other.

the first day of school

Our first day of school was yesterday, and it was pretty nice. Nothing especially different than your typical first day of school. Now it's the second day of school, and since I wore flip flops, I came home with dried blood on my toe. That was the highlight of the day- nothing special.

Here is the traditional first day of school picture.

cool picture

It's not the best picture, but I really like the colors.

i am a genius.

I am a complete genius. What better place to hide for hide-and-seek, then the dryer?

Kids- do not shut the door when you hide in the dryer. I'd be scared to do it. It all started when I had a friend over and she suggested playing hide-and-seek, and Alice was counting. I was originally going to hide in the hamper, but the sack of bottles-to-be recycled was hanging right over it and it made a really loud noise. Alice was almost done counting, so I jumped into the dryer and partly closed the door. It was still open about 2 or 3 inches, and I was so sure that I was going to be found first. Actually what happened was I had to show myself because everyone was stumped. I have had other genius hiding places since then, but this was the most memorable one.

more of connor and brenna

Here's more of Connor and Brenna!
Brenna at the swimming pool...
Connor with his Power Rangers phone... The funny story is, though, that Connor had been to Wal-Mart before we came, and said that he liked the P.R. phone. Then, we come to their house, and we give it to him! We also gave Brenna a Disney Princess phone. They hardly ever put them dowm!
Talking on the phone...
Brenna just poured water on herself in the kiddie pool that we brought. She was always sticking out her tongue!
And then after 15 minutes filling the kiddie pool, we spent the next hour on the swings, so here are some swing shots:

Connor also loved the swing! My guess is that we spent about 1/4 of our time there one the swings!

trip to catherines: connor and brenna and alastair- artistic shots

This post is full of pictures of Connor, Brenna, and Alastair, from our trip to Catherine's.
This post is just for the artistic shots.
One day we played with bubbles and Grandma got them this cool bubble blower.

And then of course we had to eat ice cream after going swimming!
Brenna liked to show me the necklace that I
And here's Connor with his trusty watergun- with no water.
And Connor wanting to look super fast.
And we can't forget Alastair! Here's and outdoor shot.
Don't worry- there's more!

yet another movie.

Believe me, there are more movies to come! I am actually working on a masterpiece right now. This one is of Connor dancing at the pool before his swimming lesson.

Two Videos

Here are two videos, one of Connor, and one of Brenna. I have been taking advantage of their high-speed internet connection, and it only took about ten minutes to upload one video, while at our house, it takes three- four hours and then says the internet can't comprehend the task. So, here are the two videos.

the 3 pictures.

Well, sad to say, I've only uploaded three pictures of Idaho so far. I have to have my own folder to store all my pictures in because they were taking up too much space on the computer. So, I have to go in and upload one at a time, which takes a long time, and then I don't want to get any more than I need after 20 minutes of waiting for three photos to upload. Here they are.

First, a beautiful sunset washing everything in gold.

Next, Alice eating ice cream. I was playing around with the camera and wanted to do something with focusing on something other than the subject, preferably closer to the camera than Alice. And the thing that was focused was the beautiful table at Grandma and Grandpa Bailey's.

And next, Grandma's beautiful garden, or one of them- Grandma has a lot of gardens. She also had black hollihocks *is that how you spell it?*, beautiful snapdragons, and these, which I don't know what they are. (I took pictures of both the hollihocks and the snapdragons.)

PVD

AKA Post Vacation Depression. It's when someone is depressed after vacation because you're tired, or sad about leaving everyone, or something like that. Even the dog has PVD. Lily spent her time running around with her best friend, a Bichon Frise. She'll be moping for the next few days. As will we all, but we have to bounce back fast, because tommarow we have lessons at 8:45 am. We didn't wake up this morning until 9:14. We didn't get back until about 11:30 last night. At least we have afternoon church today.
It was really fun in Idaho, I saw Nancy Drew and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. We floated down the Burgis Canal almost every day, and played Rook a lot, we went camping in the mountains at Red Fish Lake, and did lots of other fun stuff. We went and saw some awesome fireworks for the 4th of July, and went to a parade that actually threw out candy! *I think it's banned here in Cedar Falls*. I also took one or two cool pictures of Alice.
I will show those another time.

portrait of alice

I took this really cute picture of Alice last Sunday. It looks really nice, and her eyes pop.

through the mirrior

I had some fun playing around with the camera and the mirrior. It looks pretty cool to me.

looking up the stairs
Often times whenever someone goes downstairs, Lily doesn't follow, she just sits at the top of the stairs, and in this picture, looks kind of sad.
